701 Strategy Group, LLC brings together seasoned political experts with a combined four decades of experience in North Dakota. Our founders have a proven track record of winning campaigns, including ballot measure victories that defied expectations.

AMY JACOBSON, CO-FOUNDER & ACTIVE PARTNER Amy creates and executes high impact media and communications strategies that drive progressive change and lift up diverse voices. She leads organizations and political campaigns in communications & messaging development, political analysis on state and local issues, strategic and digital advocacy campaigns, and media amplification for the progressive movement. From small local races to statewide ballot measure campaigns, Amy has consistently made a meaningful impact in North Dakota's political landscape. For over 20 years she has served as an advocate, strategist, and lobbyist for progressive causes. Amy is incredibly proud of her time on board of the North Dakota Women’s Network where she chaired its State Legislative Committee and co-founded “WE Rise: Women Empowered”, North Dakota's first women’s lobby day at the Capitol in Bismarck. Amy’s background in issue-based communications work is rooted in state level advocacy campaigns. In 2014, as Campaign Director for North Dakotans Against Measure 1 Amy led the defeat of a sweeping ‘Personhood’ abortion ban by a 2-to-1 vote margin at the ballot box. And in 2012, she served as the Campaign Manager in the successful effort to defeat a statewide ballot measure that would have enshrined discrimination into the state Constitution. A North Dakota native, Amy received her BA in Women and Gender Studies from North Dakota State University, where she was recognized as Distinguished Alumni in 2015. And in 2016 she was honored with the YWCA of Cass Clay “Woman of the Year” award for her work advocating for ND women and families. She resides in Fargo with her husband and daughter.

JESSICA EDLAND, CO-FOUNDER & ACTIVE PARTNER With over 15 years dedicated to the nonprofit sector, Jessica is a seasoned professional known for her unparalleled ability to harness the power of coalitions for meaningful change. Her expertise lies not just in creating synergies among diverse groups, but also in utilizing both traditional and social media platforms to magnify their voice and message. Jessica has a wide array of skills due to her various roles throughout the years, from managing multi-million dollar budgets, to a proven track record in fundraising for local campaigns and non-profits, to orchestrating comprehensive strategic planning, she is able to share her experience on strategic fundraising, coalition building, and campaign planning. Jessica has had extensive involvement in successful field campaigns. From statewide issue-based campaigns that mobilized thousands to local legislative races winning by only a few hundred, Jessica has provided campaigns with her passion and experience across North Dakota, and beyond. Jessica received her BA in Business Administration and Communications from the University of Jamestown, where she was elected a Representative Jimmie in 2008. In 2012, Jessica was elected to a term in the North Dakota House of Representatives where she served two sessions. In 2015 she was selected by North Dakota United as the “Friend of Public Employees” for her work to save public employee pensions while serving in the legislature. In 2015, she was also selected to serve on the North Dakota Human Trafficking commission for her work to fund services for survivors of human trafficking. She currently lives in Jamestown with her husband, four children, and their family dog.

CAITLIN WACHSMUTH, CAMPAIGN MANAGER Caitlin is a versatile professional with a passion for driving positive change. Known for her unique blend of creativity and analytical prowess, she excels in crafting compelling content and leveraging the latest trends to promote ideas and messages effectively. Having resided in the Fargo Moorhead area for the past 10 years, Caitlin has worked with various local businesses and organizations in event promotion, fundraising, brand cultivation, social media campaigns, marketing, donor management, and community engagement. As a dedicated board member of the Prairie Abortion Fund, she has helped raise substantial funds to protect and expand abortion access while serving as an advocate for reproductive rights in the region. Caitlin holds a BS in Statistics with a minor in Chemistry from North Dakota State University. She resides in Moorhead, MN, with her partner and three cats, where she strives to make a meaningful impact in her community and beyond.
